Mothering
I am slowly finding my rhythm as a mother. Before you have children, you can’t really imagine all that goes into mothering. After you have a baby, you want to kiss every mother you know, especially your own. I will never forget the deep love and gratitude I felt for my own mom after giving birth to my first baby. I think it will be a sentiment that repeats itself throughout the different stages of my children. It is hard to be a parent. I think it is the best way to learn about love. Those real, meaningful lessons in life seem to sometimes come with the steepest learning curve.
You could call me an “attachment parent” or a “natural minded” mother… but to be honest, I am not to into labels. I am a mom, mamma, mommy. Mother. I am learning what that means for me, and for my kids. I am doing my best to nurture their character, to foster their strengths, and to raise them with love, compassion, and integrity at the core of their being. Sounds like a tall order… and it is! What a responsibility to be entrusted with these little lives.
Right now we are in the baby/toddler/preschooler stage with our boys. I always find it valuable to hear about what other people are doing or more so going through as parents- but not in an “unsolicited advice” kind of way. Because really, who likes to be inadvertently criticized. While I may not always agree with everyone’s parenting methods, I can at least work to grow mine, and do my best to be honest about the things we are going through with our kids. As parents, we face enough obstacles- I think it would be so wonderful to see more moms and dads truly supporting other parents, because I know its a balancing act, and it can be tough to make it work sometimes!
Here are some of the posts that document my journey as a mama, and a few of my thoughts on the issues we can face as parents.
